A month ago, before I ventured in to Scotland to bag my first Munro, I did something completely different and went for a walk on the Northumberland Coast. Last year I’d walked down the coast as far as Alnmouth, so this walk from Alnmouth to Amble would be new territory for me to explore.

A walk alongside the River Tweed from Berwick to Norham

Date:  07/03/2015
Start time:  10:15
Time taken:  4 hours
Distance:  11 miles
Weather: Overcast, light drizzle, strong westerly wind
Route:  Berwick – River Tweed – Union Chain Bridge – Horncliffe – Norham

With itchy feet from not having not been out at all in January I decided that something needed to be done. Short of inspiration I looked for a route through countryside that would connect a few small villages together. I often see signposts for Lucker off the A1 at Warenford and have wondered what was there. This walk from Bamburgh to Belford would enable me to find out.
